Middleton is a full-time professional nature photographer, writer
and naturalist. He photographs whatever he finds attractive
and then thinks about trying to sell it. This has lead David
to regularly photograph places as disparate as harbors, wildflower
meadows, large mammals, small birds, forests, quaint villages,
indigenous markets and mountain streams.
David has written and photographed for 18 years. He has traveled
extensively throughout all of North and South America. His
photography and writing is regularly featured in many publications
including magazines, books and calendars. David has led tours
and workshops for many organizations including the National
Audubon Society, the National Wildlife Federation, and Penn.
State University.
David has produced several books including: Ancient Forests,
The New Key to Ecuador and the Galapagos andThe Nature of
America, the largest nature photography book project ever
undertaken, which David created, co-directed, contributed
photographs to and was the principle author and American Vision,
a tribute to amateur photography.
More than an outdoor photographer and naturalist, David is
a gifted and enthusiastic teacher who truly enjoys sharing
his experiences and expertise with people. When not wandering
around the country David teaches workshops on photography,
writing and creativity.
David lives on an old dairy farm in the Green Mountains of
Vermont.
